About the Artisans

Artisans in Java, Indonesia work in beautiful, but humble surroundings with very basic tools, like needles and pliers, to create some of the most unique and affordable costume jewelry. The sustainable income earned by artisans is used for food and a quality education for their children. They pour their imagination and creativity into their craft for a brighter future. After about nine months of training most of the artisans in the village can earn a living from bead work. They create new designs with glass beads, mango wood, shells and other affordable materials from where they live. Together artisan families and community members work together to help solve their economic difficulties.
